Unusual dialogue: This unique combination of instruments is very amazing. The double bass, in its melodic side, can be very expressive and subtle. The deep sound of this instrument combines wonderfully with the clarity, harmonic and timbre richness of the guitar. These qualities allow exploring an unusual world of nuances, very difficult to achieve with another musical combination.

Historical value: The taste for the recovery of ancient instruments and the interpretation with historicist criteria is shared. This fact, among others, makes them tune their instruments on the 430 h pitch, just as it was done in Classicism. The guitar with which they will offer this series of concerts is a 150-year-old instrument, built by the Majorcan luthier Francesc Casasnovas and restored by Pere Fiol at the Instrument Workshop, which he runs together with his partner, Francesc Forteza.

Repertoire: Aguiló i Fiol, aware of the qualities offered by the combination of these two instruments, have chosen and adapted a beautiful, varied and colorful repertoire, made to measure, since traditional literature does not include works for this group.

Xisco Aguilo, double bass
A native of Mallorca, he studied double bass and violone at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague, with Anthony Woodrow, Margaret Urquart and Knut Guettler, graduating in both specialties.
He was a member of the JONDE (Youth National Orchestra of Spain). He has been a member of the Balearic Islands Symphony Orchestra and a regular collaborator with the OCG (Orquesta Ciudad de Granada).
He has taught violone courses for the University of Salamanca and the Hong Kong Conservatory. He has offered numerous double bass and piano recitals with pianists Rumiko Harada, Yuko Mizutani, Marta Ambrós and Isabel Fèlix, with whom he plays regularly and has recently released a record.
Specialized in ancient music, he develops an incessant concert work with groups such as: the Royal Chamber, the Spanish Concert, the Baroque Orchestra of Seville, Le Concert des Nations, Albada Quartet, Al Ayre Español or the Orquesta del s.XVIII, with which he has given concerts in Japan, New York, Singapore, Hong Kong and regularly participates in the most prestigious European festivals.
He has recorded for record labels such as Ona Digital, Lindoro, Glossa, Alia Vox, Armonía Mundi, Prometeo, Chalenge, among others.

Pere Fiol, guitar
Born in Palma, he studied classical guitar at the Palma Conservatory with the soloist Gabriel Estarellas. He finished the studies leading to the Higher Degree at the Superior Conservatory of Music in Madrid.
Fiol's musical activity encompasses most of the show registers: from an interesting concert tour to the construction of instruments, without forgetting an important teaching facet, both in the classrooms and from the management of the Ireneu Shows theater.
As a performer, he has offered concerts on the Islands, throughout the State and in different parts of Europe.
He has been part of a good number of chamber groups, and currently he is also in a duo with the flutist Enrique Sánchez, with whom he has several programs.
As for the record section, he has participated in various recordings as artists such as the mezzo-soprano Eulalia Salbanyà, among others.
Pere Fiol's musical concerns, beyond performance, include the Instrument Workshop, which he shares with Francesc Forteza, where they are dedicated to the construction, restoration and maintenance of string instruments. Likewise, he has given classes on the foundations of luthiery for string instruments at the Superior Conservatory of Music of the Balearic Islands.
