Barry sargent

Born in  Cincinnati (USA), the city where he began his musical studies with  Sigmund Effron. At the age of 15 he performed as a soloist with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and the following year with the Columbus Symphony. Follow your studies with Andor Toth in Oberlin  Conservatory where the degree ends with "High Honors". Later he moved his residence to Paris to expand his violinistic knowledge under the direction of  Gerard Poulet. In this same city, he came into contact with the cellist Christophe Coin, who invited him to play with the Ensemble Mosaïque, encouraging him to investigate and perform with historical instruments. Study the baroque violin with Monica Huggett. 

Since then he has been concertmaster of prestigious baroque ensembles; in France with Les Arts Florissants, Les Talents Liriques, Seminario Musicale, in the Netherlands with the  Bach Vereinigen, in Italy with Promo Musica, in Germany with the Kölner Academie and concertmaster-director of the Concerto Köln. He has also collaborated with Frans Brüggen, Ton Koopman, Jordi Savall, Christopher Hogwood and Nikolaus Harnoncourt. 

In Spain, where you reside  currently, he has been first violin of Al Ayre Español, concertmaster  guest of the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, the Bilbao Symphony Orchestra, the Extremadura Orchestra, the Euskadi Syphonic Orchestra, the Navarra Symphony Orchestra, the Philharmonic Orchestra  of Gran Canaria. His work as a director has been extensive in Spain. He has been the founder and director of three orchestras: the Orquesta Barroca de Sevilla, the Camerata Sa Nostra and the Orquesta Barroca de Mallorca.  He has conducted the Philharmonic Orchestra  de Gran Canaria, the Orquestra de Granollers, the Illa de Menorca Orchestra, the Granada City Orchestra, the Orquestra de Cambra Terrassa 48, the Jove de Catalunya and  the Young Baroque of Andalusia. He is currently the director of l'Ensemble Tramuntana.
